I POST THIS 2 ARTICLES FROM OUR LOCAL DAILY SITE. THIS IS REGARD TO THE SITUATION IN MY REGION WITH THE ANCESTRAL DOMAIN ISSUES...

Thursday, August 7. 2008 MILF rebels sightings trigger panic in Zambo by Dan Toribio Jr. & Jemeuel Mojica Article courtesy of Daily Zaboanga Times site.
Residents panicked yesterday amid reports that Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) rebels are in Zamboanga City since Monday when a big rally against the Bangsamoro homeland was in progress.
The situation became more tense when Moro National Liberation Front founder Nur Misuari and his entourage arrived in this city yesterday in what was described as a “journey of peace.”
Live radio coverage of Misuari’s visit made the residents confused as they thought that Misuari’s group was one with the MILF rebels.
At least three schools sent their students home for fear of eruption of violence in the streets. Text messages likewise circulated that Zamboanga City was on “triple alert”.
The tension started after DZT reported the presence of MILF rebels with firearms eating at a restaurant along Gov. Camins Road.
Reports also disclosed that unidentified armed men believed to be MILF rebels were sighted in Manicahan, Cabaluay, Sangali and Labuan.
Soldiers and policemen were dispatched to the mentioned places to secure the people and the barangays.
Many parents stopped their children from going to schools for fear of kidnapping.
Last Tuesday night, residents living along the highway in the east coast were thrown into panic after they spotted a group of persons aboard trucks heading towards the city proper. It was later learned that they were supporters of Misuari.
As this developed, the police and the military in the city have intensified the conduct of security patrols and checkpoints to deter possible attacks by the MILF or their sympathizers in the wake of the cancelled signing of the memorandum of agreement (MOA) on ancestral domain by the GRP-MILF panels.
Police and military units have been placed on red alert since Tuesday, and the City Police Office and Task Force Zamboanga have beefed up its forces manning the checkpoints and conducting mobile patrols especially during night time.
“We are on heightened alert to deter any possible sabotages or atrocity that might be committed by rebel groups and other lawless groups. The police are close coordination with the Task Force Zamboanga and other military units here,” Sr. Supt. Lurimer Detran, city police director, disclosed.
Police and military intelligence operatives are also closely monitoring movements of armed groups from the nearby provinces with plans to slip into the city.
As of press time yesterday, there were unconfirmed reports of armed groups in some Muslim dominated barangays like in Manicahan, Cabaluay, Sanggali, Sacol and Sacol Islands.
“There are reliable reports that some MILF rebels were able to slip into the city from nearby provinces and are already here in the city proper,” a military official who refused to be named told DZT.
A checkpoint of the Police Regional Mobile Group in Putik yesterday dawn stopped a Strada pick up truck with three men after they discovered that they were carrying firearms. Police held them for questioning and were later released after they were able to produce documents for their firearms.
Sr. Supt. Detran said they are now strictly enforcing the gun ban in the city as he stressed that personnel manning the checkpoints were directed to strictly scrutinize persons carrying firearms if they are really authorized to carry firearms.
He disclosed that buses and vans coming from nearby provinces like Zamboanga Sibugay are being subjected to rigid inspection.
Detran said the present situation calls for more vigilance in the police and military forces.
“We are also appealing to the general public to report to police authorities the presence of any armed men or groups in their neighborhood,” Detran stressed.
He added that barangay tanods were also tapped to assist the police in the maintenance of security and peace and order in their respective communities. — Dan Toribio Jr. and Jemuel E. Mojica

The burning and messing issue of ancestral domain in my region called Mindanao...
|
Article courtesy of Daily Zamboanga Times site. Tuesday, August 5. 2008 Zamboangueños again say NO!
Zamboangueños have spoken again in a huge rally yesterday strongly opposing the inclusion of any part of Zamboanga City into the proposed expanded autonomous region. They have said NO twice in the past and they have not changed this position.
Massive crowd from several sectors wearing the fighting color of red jammed the Rizal Park in front of City Hall and spilled over its perimeter in a show of unity against the proposed Moro ancestral domain that seeks to include at least eight barangays of Zamboanga City, among which are Zones 3 and 4 where City Hall, the Metropolitan Cathedral, Fort Pilar, the residence of Mayor Celso Lobregat, Ateneo de Zamboanga University and the city’s main commercial district are located.
Though everything is not final yet vis-a-vis the territory issue (ancestral domain) in the GRP-MILF peace negotiations, it is imperative for Zamboanga City to voice out its sentiment this early so that the negotiators and the government will be aware of the city’s ardent stand on this controversy. Let us not allow anybody to ram down our throats anything that is against our will.
We are not against the peace negotiations, nor we oppose the establishment of a Bangsamoro Homeland. What we want is a fair and just settlement of the Moro problem. Everybody wants peace, but it should come with respect over the rights of others who are non-Moros.
We expect more mass protest actions from the residents and we plead with the government to consult the people before signing any deal with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.

Better World for Humanity (bet for human)...
|
BETTER WORLD FOR HUMANITY ADDRESS: Block 4, Lot 5, Phase 12 A&W subdivision Putik, Zamboanga City Philippines Mobile NO. 0919-9526931
JUSTIFICATION AND BACKGROUND:
“BET 4 HUMAN” is a non-religious, non-political, non-profit organization has been in existence five or so years ago, and it was borne out of the need to come up with a very apt and timely intervention to the predicament of the many underserved populace in the society who for so long is inflicted with the numerous evils of society.
Socio-Economic, Cultural and Environment inadequacies are apparent in all aspects of the people’s lives; its effects are seen in the semblance of massive poverty, unequal opportunities and the like. It was seen that despite the fact that there are many proposed and even implemented programs and projects pursued by the government and the many institutions in existence, the fact still remains that there are still many things to be done. For, there are still felt needs as pockets of gaps in the implementation of these various and varied initiatives, and is apparently felt by the common people in their respective localities. It ranges from unequal distribution of assistance brought about by the system of whom you know, financial constraints in the delivery of services of almost all mandated service delivery of the government due to lack or poor financial management or poor tax collections, massive corruption practices by those elective and appointed officials in the procurement system and even by the rank and file in terms of the practice of their responsibilities, uneven and unequal distribution of programs and projects to gravely poverty stricken communities, no system of monitoring and evaluations of all program and projects and more importantly there apparently is no transparency and accountability by those in the cudgels of power and supposed responsibilities and obligations.
RATIONALE: In the light of these plights faced by many communities, their determination to overcome their suffering is greatly affected. Because of the lack of capacity which would be a way to empower them, they tend to be complacent and inactive in a much needed economic endeavor.
For years now, various forms of interventions were already devised to arrest these negative occurrences in order to alleviate if not to ease the pressures of poverty of the people. And this initiative does not to go against, but furthers and polishes the existing institutional and organizational development initiatives.
For as long as there is a strong foundation and strengthened organization and capacitated individuals competently manning different posts within the community organization, any intervention will surely suffice to be effective and successful and an avenue for growth through sustained and guided intervention shall take place.
In view of the foregoing, “BET FOR HUMAN” is poised to strengthen, unify and consolidate most of the needed know-how, knowledge and breakthroughs to solve a particular need/problem of sectors identified in a given community. Thus, opening possibilities for people to realize and be empowered and be determined to address any social, economic, environmental and even political constraints posed by unequal opportunities.
The concept did not come like in a twinkling of an eye. But, rather through the many observed and experienced scenarios and situations the members of the board of trustees and some other resourceful people from our well established networks and resource pool, who felt the very need of interventions through trainings, workshops, seminars, skills development and even material or financial assistance to the people on the ground.
The capacity of these communities tends to be crude and unmatched and unequal to their faced obstacles. For it was observed that leaders of the community or organizations are seen pampered to be accommodated in various hotels to attend seminars or training, fora or conferences in the guise of capacity buildings at the expense of the organization’s and people’s finances and the very much needed monetary resources intended for development, thus limiting the delivery of most basic services direly needed by the community(s). Therefore, we impose it upon ourselves with the aid of other partners both national and international to be directly involved in the affairs of specific identified sector or sectors and not just their leaders but most importantly the grassroots to include the underprivileged and unfortunate women, children and the elderly. By providing them the necessary knowledge, skills and opportunity to thrive politically, economically, environmentally and more so socially, whereby much needed organizations and enterprise will be set, re establish/ re organized and revitalized through proper education trainings and monitoring, thereby assisting and guiding them in every step of the way they take. In so doing, they will be able to stand on their own and elicit from among them the much needed change which will make them vibrant to propel them for development to the future and beyond.

Thank you Sir Frans...
|
I just want to tell the world that I am indebted to Sir Frans, for he’s financial support to me, to my family and to the team whom he trusted too much. I can easily email him to thank in private, but I don’t want to sound a redundant fellow and by telling here at my blog, I think its more thank you words I can tell that without Sit Frans and the team from Belgium, I am nothing now.
I learned so much from my bad experience last year and early this year. In my personal life it was really a nightmare with all the sufferings. But, even though I am away from home, the Philippine team makes an amazing job to run the org and having come-up with a lot of projects/programs from their own initiative I am glad that we are moving on.
The Philippines like the rest of 3rd world countries is suffering from rice shortages, whether the government will not acknowledged but the through is ordinary people from the poorest of among the poor is lining-up to buy 3 kilos of rice in almost of the public markets in the Philippines. But, God is great, surprising with all the problems from terrorism, rice shortages, water and electric bills, high price of fuels and so on. Still we are standing tall and telling the world that Filipino is a survival.
With these regard, I myself is an example of bad nightmare in my life last year and early this year. But, here I am back safe and sound with the all the prayers warriors I have in my life, seeing my parents, friends, relatives and those who love me again, it’s a unconditional blessing that I could not ask for me for now. Again, I would like to take this chance to thanks Mr. Frans Medaer, Project Leader of Message for A Better World, now base in Dilsen Belgium. For all he’s trust, understanding and patience. Sir, God will bless in any other way, but all I can say here is that thank you and don’t you worry, I will treasure the trust you gave me and I will also treasure that words I promise you then? I pray that you will still support the Philippines in spite was happened to me and the team needs you now especially they are doing an amazing job for this summer which I first feature here at my blog site.
They are waiting for you reply and the team here is asking what is going on for the past weeks. But they make a good exit with the summer culmination activity which I help them finance with my own little money that was given to me. We have selected 3 deserving very poor students as the team’s 1st scholarship. I got almost $500 and I also donated and finance the summer graduation mobilization expenses which a blessing in disguise as my arrival in the country before the big day too.
Muchas Gracia's once again Sir Frans, to the Belgian team and most of all to your family!
God will bless us all and I can pay back all the help you gave to me in the future, just hold on my words I will fulfill it as I publish it here and let the world know that I will always treasure my words Sir!!!
Thanks Sir Frans,
Mary
